333 Collins Street - The Hidden Gem

Collins Street is a major street in the CBD of Melbourne, which was laid out in the first survey of Melbourne in 1837. It has numerous heritage buildings, old street trees, high-end shopping boutiques, and it was the location for the first footpath cafes in the city.
The street became the financial heart of Melbourne in the 19th century, the preferred home of major banks and insurance companies. Since then, the skyscrapers been built which gives a great mixture of old and new, and it is definitely worth to visit. The previous tallest building of the town (Rialto towers) also located here; the Eureka taken that title in 2006. I always loved to discover the hidden gems what you can find in shadows of the skyscrapers, just walk through on Collins Street and you can feel the flavour of the old time.
The hidden gem I picked today is the 333 Collins Street. It has been built in 1891–93 as the banking chamber for the Commercial Bank of Australia. In 1990 it has been extended for modern office space with the addition of a 33-floor postmodern tower – great candidate for the old and new…
When I am here, I always quite down. You leave the noisy street behind you, just enjoy the view, the scale of the dome, the lights; five minutes here and your minds relaxed and you are ready for the day.
Through the lens of the photographer, it is a challenge to capture the whole dome in one photo without distortion, but sometimes the details can be as interesting as the whole building.
