Living in Melbourne has only strengthened my appreciation for trams. Melbourne operates the largest operational tram network in the world, with more than 250 kilometres of double track and hundreds of trams travelling through the city's streets every day.

From historic W-Class trams to the latest low-floor models, Melbourne's tram network is one of the city's defining features. Walking through the CBD with a camera almost guarantees you'll discover a new composition featuring colourful trams passing iconic landmarks.

Many of my favourite transport photographs have been captured during early morning or evening light when the city becomes quieter and the trams become the stars of the streets.

Budapest – Home of the World's Longest Passenger Trams

Before moving to Australia, I lived in Budapest, another city famous for its outstanding tram network.

Budapest's famous tram routes 4 and 6 operate the world's longest passenger trams—the impressive CAF Urbos vehicles stretching over 56 metres in length.

Watching these enormous trams glide along the Grand Boulevard has fascinated me since childhood. They are not only an essential part of the city's transport system but also an engineering achievement admired by tram enthusiasts worldwide.

Having lived in both Budapest and Melbourne has given me the opportunity to photograph two of the world's most iconic tram cities from different perspectives.
