Materials

Each custom stretched canvas begins with a 12-colour Giclée print, produced from a choice of substrates. We then make a custom wooden frame from European knotless pine - in any size needed - and stretch the rolled canvas print over it.

Each canvas frame is milled a curved profile; minimising contact with the face of the canvas; preventing unsightly impression marks and surface cracking.

We use finger jointed canvas frames to create corner tension which helps to resist warping. For larger sizes, we add wooden 'wedges' to each corner; ensuring the canvas surface remains taut and allowing for easy re-stretching in future years.

What size options are available for panorama canvas prints?
Our panorama canvases are available in three sizes: 30×90 cm (12×36 in), 40×122 cm (16×48 in), and 51×152 cm (20×60 in) — suitable for everything from a bedside table wall to a statement living room piece.

What sizes are your canvases available in?
Most of our canvases come in three sizes: 40x60 cm (16x24″), 50x75 cm (20x30″) and 60x90 cm (24x36″). Our Australian animal nursery canvases come in 40x60 cm and 50x75 cm, and vertical panoramas such as the Aurora and Milky Way canvases come in longer 40x80 cm and 50x100 cm formats. The available sizes are always shown on each product page.

How do I choose the right canvas size for my wall?
As a rule of thumb, choose a canvas about two-thirds the width of the furniture it hangs above, such as a sofa, bed or sideboard. 40x60 cm suits a hallway, study or smaller wall, 50x75 cm works well above a desk or side table, and 60x90 cm makes a statement piece above a sofa or bed. To test a size, cut a piece of paper or cardboard to the same dimensions and tape it to the wall for a day.

Are the canvases ready to hang?
Yes. Each canvas is stretched over a solid wood frame about 4 cm deep, and hanging hardware is included. The exact hanging kit may vary slightly depending on the country your canvas is printed in.

What is the canvas made of?
The print is on premium coated canvas, a cotton and polyester blend of roughly 300–350 gsm. The frame is made from responsibly sourced wood, mainly FSC-certified.

Do I need a frame for the canvas?
No. The canvas wraps around a wooden frame, so it's ready to display as it is.

Can I personalise a canvas?
Yes, selected Melbourne and Budapest canvases can be personalised. Where personalisation is available, you can review it on screen before you place your order.

How is my canvas made and shipped?
Every canvas is printed on demand when you order, so there is no pre-made stock. It is produced at a facility close to the delivery address and shipped directly to you or your gift recipient. Estimated delivery times are shown at checkout and in our Shipping Policy.

Can I send a canvas directly as a gift?
Yes. Enter the recipient's address at checkout and the canvas ships straight to them.

What if my canvas arrives damaged?
Please take photos of the damage and contact us at istvanmaar.photography@gmail.com within 14 days of the expected delivery date, and we'll make it right.
